6.14 Channel Multiplex
Channel Multiplexing, named by the parameter option as ChMx, will redistribute active voices, typically created from a chord, to other incremental MIDI channels, upwards from the base. The current sequencer channel is the 'base' starting point. When set to an option other than off, it is applied to all chords in the sequence.
Channel multiplex is a feature found in the polyphonic based modes, Poly, Chord, Domino and Saga.
With channel multiplexing on, the following behavior applies:-
2 Lo to 8 Lo. Lo represents the lowest note in a chord. The lowest note always remains on the base MIDI channel. Each of the chord's other notes will be directed individually, in increasing pitch order, to the consecutive higher MIDI channels. Notes are distributed across channels based on the selected Lo span number. At the end of the Lo range, the next note will wrap back to the base, and the cycle continues.
2 Hi to 8 Hi. Hi represents the Highest note in a chord. The highest note always remains on the base MIDI channel. Each of the chord's other notes will be directed individually, in decreasing pitch order, to the consecutive higher MIDI channels. Notes are spread over channels based on the Hi span number selected. At the end of the Hi range, the next note wraps back to the base, and the cycle continues.
Example: 2 notes (C4, G4), Base sequencer channel = Ch 1 and span = 2:
2 Lo: C4 is sent to Base MIDI Channel 1, G4 is sent to MIDI Channel 2. If the chord had a third higher note, should it exist, it will wrap back to the base channel
2 Hi: G4 is sent to Base MIDI Channel 1, C4 is sent to MIDI Channel 2. If the chord had a third lower note, should it exist, it will wrap back to the base channel
